On 24th June 2016 at Liverpool Cricket Club, only a few days after the tennis tournament had finished, the SimmSec events team were back to oversee a one off cricket match between Lancs v Barbados.
A forty over game where if you got lost in the melodic tunes from the steel band, the caribbean food being served on site & the glorious sunshine, you may of thought you were in Barbados. We were responsible for the access control of not only spectators for the cricket, but also as the cricket club is a registered polling station, we also assisted with the voters for the EU Referendum voting. Also back to the cricket & our corporate/hospitality specialist Emma, was in the hospitality marquee assisting club staff & guests. We also provided a little Close Protection when we were visited by Liverpool Lord Mayor Roz Gladden, who we also met at Exchange Flags for the tennis promotion.
For those of you desperate to know the result, Barbados went into bat first & reached 172 all out. Lancs came into bat after tea & soon rallied up the score to 168 for 6. Then the man himself, Andrew Flintoff came into bat scoring a single from his first delivery. He returned to the stumps after the next ball with another single being scored by his partner. Score now 170 for 6 & only one thing for Freddie to do & that was hit a six of the next delivery to win the match.
A great day for those who attended & well done to our team for all their hard work & persevering in the heat.
